Hi! My name is Amy Shane and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I started my professional career as a high school teacher in St. Charles, IL. Now as a clinical social worker, I utilize my skills as an educator to assist clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. My clinical professional background includes having extensive experience working alongside clients in inpatient/medical hospitalization programs as well as PHP/IOP treatment programs treating anxiety disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorders and complex trauma/PTSD.

I currently work with adolescents and adults seeking out individual psychotherapy. I am also able to provide assessments for higher levels of care for substance use disorders, eating disorders, NSSI, and suicidality. With clients who have histories of complex trauma, I utilize an integrative trauma-focused treatments and behavior therapies such as psychodynamic therapy, sensorimotor therapy techniques, and dialectical behavior therapies.

Additionally, I am adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Aurora University, teaching a variety of courses in clinical social work as well as addictions counseling courses for the IL CADC certificate program. In August, I will be starting my journey at The Institute of Clinical Social Work in Chicago, IL to start my PhD programming in Clinical Social Work!
